Wendy reports on Rock Solid – September 2014

For those who don’t know, Rock Solid is a muddy obstacle course over which runners can run either 10 or 15k.

This year the event as staged on September 20th and the club were invited to go along and volunteer in exchange for a free entry and T-shirt. So Lucy and I duly voluteered and found ourselves helping with the children’s race which was great to watch. From where I stood, I was entertained by watching the adults ‘warming up’ in the mud pit. I then went out onto the main course where I encouraged the runners over the obstacle I was posted at.

All the runners were friendly, perhaps too friendly, as they were only too happy to share the mud they were covered in. However, it was great watching people climb over the cargo net after slipping down the water chute – all very amusing.

The run was at a relaxed pace with lots of large groups helping each other over the obstacles and generally having a laugh as a team.

Lucy and I plan to run in the event next year and would love for club members to join us – watch this space!
