Last Saturday, 16th May, saw the first anniversary of the Buckingham parkrun. A new record of 217 runners saw the winners of the Men’s and Women’s points table presented with impressive trophies, with framed certificates going to the second and third places.
Our very own Jonathan (The Flying) Fox won the men’s award having run in 48 of the year’s 54 parkruns (he also volunteered at a further 3) with 3926 points and Ian McPartlan came in third having garnered 3219 points in 34 parkruns.
A significant number of BSRC members were in the top ten. Not really surprising when you consider that 60 of our club runners amassed a total of 677 runs over the year – an average of 11 members turning up on each Saturday morning.
By all accounts – in other words, according to his wife, Sue – Jonathan is so pleased with his trophy that he has placed it in the middle of his living room. But now the Points Table has been reset for 2015-16 – will Jonathan do it again, or will he actually take a holiday this year? The family are off for a break this weekend – but only after Jonathan has volunteered at parkrun, which automatically gets him 100 points!
