The first club championship race of 2015 for the Buckingham and Stowe Running Club took place on Sunday 22nd February at the Winslow 10k road race.
16 runners from the club took part and thankfully the weather forecasters got it absolutely right with a chilly but dry morning and even the occasional glimpse of sunshine.
First man home for the club was Kevin Brown in a time of 41 minutes and 57 seconds. In second place was Ian McPartlan with a new personal-best time of 42 minutes and 22 seconds. In third place was Steve Thomson also with a new PB time of 43 minutes and 32 seconds.
First home for the ladies was Emily Bowen with a fantastic time of 44 minutes and 40 seconds. In second place was Lucy Price, setting a new PB time of 49 minutes and 9 seconds. In third place was Jane Smith with a time of 54 minutes and 7 seconds.
James Newman completed his first 10k race in an excellent time of 49 minutes and 36 seconds and a number of other club runners also set new PB times including Jonathan Fox who finished in a well deserved time of 44 minutes and 43 seconds.
Many of the runners commented how well the Club’s training programme was paying-off and they are seeing significant improvements in their times. With the championship having just started, the scene is set for a great year for the club and its runners.
The next club championship race is the MK Festival of Running 1/2 marathon on the 8th March
