AGENDA

  1. Apologies
  2. Minutes of AGM held on Friday 6th January 2017
  3. Matters arising from the minutes
  4. Chairman’s report on 2017 and plans for 2018 (see below) – Chris Usher; followed by questions from members
  5. Membership report – Terry Penny; followed by questions from members
  6. Treasurer’s report; to include income & expenditure for 2017 and expenditure plans for 2018 – Jonathan Fox; followed by questions and suggestions from members
  7. Members to vote on proposed membership fees for 2018.
  8. Election of officers – the following people wish to stand for re-election:
  • Chairman – Chris Usher
  • Vice-chairman – Steve Thomson
  • Treasurer – Jonathan Fox
  • Club Secretary – Laura Penny
  • Publicity Officer/Social Secretary – Vacant (see below)
  • Club Coach – Alex Penny
  • Beginners/Improvers – Jane Smith

Terry Penny has resigned from the committee and Laura will take over the position of club secretary. Debbie Morris has been proposed for the position as Publicity Officer and Social Secretary and a vote will be held to validate this.

Lucy Price has also resigned from the committee, but we have decided not to replace her at present. However, anyone who wishes to stand for ANY of the above posts should notify the chairman prior to the meeting.

  1. Members to identify the most popular races to include in the 2018 Championship.
  2. Club trips for 2018 – Alex Penny
  3. Various items for discussion arising from the recent survey of club members.
  4. Any other business – members to forward AOB to the club chairman or secretary 7 days beforehand if possible.

 

Developmental objectives for the club for 2017 were to …

… strive to maintain or increase membership numbers at 130+

… provide appropriate funding for at least two people to train to become Leaders in Running Fitness

… organise club trips including …

A second crack at The Three Peaks Challenge;

A half-/full marathon trip to an event in the UK

… launch the inaugural Buckingham Half Marathon (14 May)

… arrange more Stowe track sessions; Sunday runs; and full training programmes for 10k, half marathon etc.

… organise another presentation on a running-related topic (possibly nutrition)

… develop the club website

… set up a Facebook group on the club’s Facebook page to facilitate greater (direct) interaction between members

… continue to help/support the wider Buckingham community in some way and possibly raise funds for Comic Relief/Children in Need.

Possible (developmental) objectives for 2018 …

… strive to maintain or increase membership numbers at 140+

… provide appropriate funding for at least two people to train to become Leaders in Running Fitness

… organise a third club trip to a running festival event in the UK and/or abroad

… expand entries for our 2nd Half Marathon to ~500

… organise another presentation on a running-related topic

… hire the Stowe track for some Sunday morning sessions

… continue to help/support the wider Buckingham community in some way (and possibly raise funds for Comic Relief/Children in Need)

… investigate the demand for a triathlon section of the club and if demand is high enough research the best way to effect this
