Name: Debbie Morris
Where you were born: Aylesbury
How long have you been a member of the club? Only since June 2015. I’ve been running for 9 years, and after lots of long lonely marathon training runs last winter thought it was time to make running a bit more sociable. I also met a few club members at Buckingham parkrun and thought they seemed like a friendly bunch!
Why do you enjoy running? I love the freedom of being able to just lace up and get outside in the countryside and run. I feel fortunate that I have found a form of exercise that I love and it’s not a chore.
Your running highs and lows? Highs must be each time I achieve a PB, I thought I had peaked in my running career and so it’s always a nice surprise to find out that I can go a just little bit faster! The only lows are injuries, I’m not good at resting.
Piece of running kit you can’t live without? My Garmin watch or iphone to record my run on Strava. I love analysing my own Strava stats and looking at the achievements of other runners.
Biggest running achievement? This has to be the London marathon. It was always my running dream and after being rejected in the ballot for five years, I was thrilled to get a place for 2015. Race day was amazing and I loved running every single step. To top it off, I ran a Good for Age time and get to do it all over again in 2016!
What do you hope to achieve this year? I’m on target to run over 1000 miles this year and achieve PBs in most distances.
Do you listen to music when you run, if so what do you like? I never tire of my running playlist, top three tunes are Dakota by Stereophonics, Town Called Malice by The Jam, Mr Brightside by the Killers.
Any other hobbies or interests? I love skiing (and apres-ski!). This year I’ve really enjoyed open water swimming and have taken part in a couple of triathlons. In a moment of madness I have entered an Ironman 70.3 event for 2016!
And finally what is your post run treat? It’s got to be chocolate!
Interesting fact about yourself? I won my place in the London Marathon in a social media competition on Twitter. My winning tweet was….
