Voted onto the club championship race calendar at the AGM, seven male club members turned out for the Oakley 20 this year. Sadly no women members took part – possibly because of those running in the London Marathon had already completed their “long run” earlier.
The course took us through some lovely countryside and picturesque villages – a few hills in places, but for every up there’s a down, so all-in-all a nice course. The weather was relatively warm for the time of year, around 15 deg C, but there were plenty of water stations to keep everyone hydrated.
Over 700 runners took part – a popular event as many were using it as their warm up for the London Marathon in 3 weeks time. No medals were awarded at the end, but our disappointment was alleviated after being presented with an Oakley 20 hoodie! Full results and times can be found on the Club Championship page, but Chris Herbert led the team home in 2h43m55s. All finished within 3 hours.
